Description
STYLE
This is a nice middle sized Yixing Teapot with a 4 letters Chinese idiom. The other side of the teapot is decorated with clay inlay, depicting two birds on a blooming plum branch, which is a common motif in Eastern art, symbolizing beauty, perseverance, and renewal.
This Chinese idiom can be translated as “greatness comes from being tolerant” or “one can be truly great only by being accommodating.”The idiom suggests that a person who is capable of embracing or accommodating differences, diverse ideas and opinions is considered truly great or strong. It emphasizes the value of being open-minded and understanding.
We have been in contact with the Xu family for a long time. Almost every family member lives and works near the Dragon Kiln in Dingshu village, Yixing city. Their teapots are in the old style and are completely handmade. The shapes often feature classic teapot forms with literary or pictorial connotations.
Ben Shan Lu Ni clay type has typically a greenish or yellowish color, or even pale yellow, the texture is soft, pastel-like and greasy. The color can vary based on the specific mineral content and the firing temperature. The teapot develops a beautiful patina, feels more oily to the touch, has a matte sheen, and becomes grayish-brown and greasy.
