CHARACTER
Qi Lan is a fragrant and elegant Wuyi rock oolong with floral clarity and mineral depth. The name “Qi Lan” means “Rare Orchid,” hinting at its signature fragrance. Though not one of the famous wuyi yan cha types, it has gained attention for its approachable character and distinctive floral aroma reminiscent of orchid and magnolia. The brew is sweet, smooth with hints of vanilla while the signature charcoal aroma makes a nice balance of sweetness and bitterness.
Wuyi Mountain is one of China’s oldest and historically significant tea-producing regions. The rocky terrain yields teas rich in trace elements and minerals of exceptional quality. As Lu Yu wrote in his 8th-century tea book: the finest teas grow among the rocks, the middling ones thrive on gravelly, sandy soil, and the weaker ones in yellow earth. The unique growing region, a maze of rocky cliffs and valleys, combined with the products distinctive processing methods and roasting techniques, ensures that this tea delivers a surprising yet enduring experience upon first consumption.
