Savanna Chawan | Mino-Iga style, greenish-brown, cylindrical matcha bowl

47.00

Ideal for everyday use, this atmospheric matcha chawan originates from Gifu, renowned for Japan’s most diverse and rich glazing techniques.

Description

STYLE

Straw-colored, greenish-brown glazed, cylindrical Minoyaki Chawan. The slightly undulating edges and rust-colored accents complement both the soft color and the form very well. The Iga glaze originates from the Mie pottery tradition and resembles celadon in its hue. In Mino, this glaze is mixed with a thicker feldspar base, resulting in a softer, thicker surface glaze. Natural-looking spots enhance the simple, geometric shapes and smooth surface. Perfect for everyday use, this atmospheric matcha chawan comes from Gifu, Japan’s most diverse and richest area in glazing techniques.
