Description
STYLE
Old wine jar shape, tall profile ceramic teapot with a soft touch and waxy effect from China. Classically shaped, it is suitable for everyday use, yet with a traditional feel. Thick glaze, good heat-retaining properties, glazed inside and outside, excellent designed tea infuser. Made with a large handle and spout for a stable hold. Tea powder glaze was developed during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and takes its name from the tea that was pressed, baked, then powdered and whisked with water according to the Chinese tea drinking customs of the time. It became very popular again during the Qing Dynasty under the Yongzheng Emperor (1678-1735). A brown ceramic base is glazed mixed with magnesium, iron and silica and fired over a high fire. The result is a matte, gently shimmering surface with a pleasing texture in shades of green, brown and yellow.
