CHARACTER

Rou Gui is one of the most iconic cultivars of Wuyi Yancha, grown in the rocky cliffs of the Wuyi Mountains. Its name means “Cinnamon,” referencing the tea’s natural spicy aroma rather than any added flavoring. Traditional charcoal roasting highlights its layered complexity and signature “yan yun” — the rock’s mineral charm — while this is the sweetest type of Wuyi Oolongs. Our tea is especially complex with it’s dark chocolate, roasted nuts and raspberry aroma beside the signature charcoal and mineral richness offering a truly memorable experience for any tea lover.

Wuyi Mountain is one of China’s oldest and historically significant tea-producing regions. The rocky terrain yields teas rich in trace elements and minerals of exceptional quality. As Lu Yu wrote in his 8th-century tea book: the finest teas grow among the rocks, the middling ones thrive on gravelly, sandy soil, and the weaker ones in yellow earth. The unique growing region, a maze of rocky cliffs and valleys, combined with the products distinctive processing methods and roasting techniques, ensures that this tea delivers a surprising yet enduring experience upon first consumption.
