❇Shoushan stone speaks of patience, touch, and the beauty shaped by nature.
❇Originally, Shoushan stone is a natural ornamental material formed from volcanic tuff and later shaped by water. It is a soft, fine-grained rock particularly well-suited for intricate carvings. Its cultural significance and carving tradition are rooted in Shoushan village, Fujian province, China.
❇Shoushan stone carries deep cultural and spiritual meaning in Chinese art and philosophy. The name itself, Shou (寿), means longevity. As a gift, it expresses a wish for a long and prosperous life. Due to its softness and elegance, Shoushan stone became the favored material for seals and scholar’s objects. It symbolizes wisdom, learning, and personal cultivation—core values of Confucian philosophy.
❇Collectors believe that Shoushan stone has a kind of “living” quality—it warms to the touch, develops a sheen over time, and seems to come alive. This also carries Daoist meaning: a harmonious connection between human and nature, formed through patience and respectful touch. With regular use, volcanic ash transforms into a beautiful, precious stone—embodying the Daoist ideal of transformation, where raw natural force evolves into refined beauty.
❇Although the Shoushan stone on the lid of Master Shen Hong Zhi’s teapot is made of clay, its symbolism is clear. As the teapot is used, the knob changes in color, texture, and feel—becoming unique over time, reflecting the owner’s personality and refined tea practice.

The Naka Sheng Puerh arrived from the village. 🥳 Naka village is known for well-balanced puerh with apple and peach notes and a sweet, spicy aroma. Narrow, winding roads lead up to the village and a small family-run tea workshop at the top of the surrounding growing area. The owners are proud of working with tea pickers who are over 90 years old. From their rocky tea garden, we’ve sourced a tea that’s mineral-rich, fruity and powerful. This strong tea melts the body and frees the mind—but its energy deserves to be met with intention. This is a kind of tea worth preparing with care, giving yourself time to taste, to feel its energy, to understand, and to let that experience turn into creative work.

TianmenShan, Xishuangbanna, April 6, 2025, 11:26 /
It’s late, but these are the most beautiful moments in the tea factory. The leaves picked in the morning have softened by evening, but the night shift just beginning. The last tea is shared, the cigarettes are burning and the roasting begins. The night cannot end until every leaf is laid out on trays, ready to greet the morning light.

Lao Banzhang has become a Swiss Bank of the pu-erh tea world. Entry to the village is strictly controlled, visitors must pay an entrance fee, the tea-roasting wok is set into granite, and the price of the pu-erh is sky-high. But the tea is truly impressive — and worthy of all the fuss.

„As hard as iron, as lustrous as water, as smooth as jade, and as resonant as stone.”Jianshui clay has an exceptionally high iron content, giving the fired vessels outstanding hardness. Its surface has a metallic feel to the touch, and when tapped, it produces a sound that is both metallic and stone-like. Jianshui ceramics are not coated with glaze; instead, they are meticulously polished, resulting in a glossy, radiant finish that resembles a mirror. Check out our unique collection 🙂 ...

Jianshui is one of the four great ceramic traditions. As ancient as Yixing, yet less known in Europe, it carries a unique charm. Crafted from local clay stone, its teapots and vessels are adorned with delicate carvings and colorful inlays. As the surface is polished, the patterns reveal themselves with striking beauty. What a honour that Shen Hong Zhi, the greatest master of the Jianshui Zitao explains the technique 🤎

Guanyin (观音) is one of the most revered deities in Chinese Buddhism, known as the Bodhisattva of Compassion and Mercy. Originally derived from the Sanskrit Avalokiteśvara, who was depicted as male in India and Tibet, Guanyin gradually took on a female form in China over time. Compassion, mercy, and nurturing are often associated with feminine qualities. As a result, Guanyin transformed into a motherly, protective deity who alleviates suffering. A seated figure in white robes, often holding a lotus flower or a vase pouring out mercy upon the world.
