CHARACTER
A distinctive, perfect, irresistible variant of its type, it is sought after by everyone from the newcomer to the professional taster. The aromas are full-bodied, with a balsamic sweetness and a sorrel-like sweet-sour note in the brew. The aroma and aftertaste have hints of jasmine coconut and peach, giving the tea a floral-spicy feel. Its oily, clean texture and concentrated flower smell could be too much if the usual iron, tight, citrusy freshness didn’t break through this concentration. Excellent Tie Guan Yin and a never lasting experience!

GUANYIN
Guanyin is the Chinese translation of the Sanskrit name Avalokitesvara. Among the three main deities of the Chinese Buddhist pantheon, Guanyin is the third and perhaps the most popular bodhisattva. In China, she has been anointed as the goddess of goodness and virtue, and has been given the same role as the Virgin Mary in Christian countries. In addition to China, she is also venerated in Korea, Japan and Tibet. She appears predominantly in female form. She saves people from all sorts of troubles, is the goddess of childbirth, helps in childbirth and is the protector of women’s dwellings. Originally depicted as a male warrior, the female form only became widespread from the 14th century onwards. Common variations are the four-handed, eight-faced, eleven-faced and thousand-faced figures. The most common attributes are: a pitcher with a willow branch (symbol of rescue from adversity), a book, a reader, a travelling stick, a three-pronged rake, a tiger-skin skirt (symbol of fearlessness). The thousand-armed figures have eyes in the palms of each hand, suggesting that she is both seeing those suffering in the infinite multitude of worlds of the universe and rescuing them with her hands.
