A traditionally styled teapot with a simple, wine vessel shape in a bluish-green color. These saturated bluish-green clays are typically blends of Duan Ni and Bai Ni, to which cobalt oxide and chromium oxide are added in carefully balanced proportions to achieve the desired hue. Cobalt oxide shifts the color toward blue, while chromium oxide brings out green tones.
The Pan Hu is one of the most traditional Yixing shapes and is often seen in both antique and contemporary masterworks. Although the shape is geometric, the transitions between the shoulder, body, and foot are softened, giving the teapot a harmonious and fluid appearance. The Pan Hu avoids excessive decoration. Its strength lies in its proportions, symmetry, and surface finish. It often appeals to those who appreciate a minimalist or scholar’s aesthetic.
