CHARACTER
Composed of a blend of medium to larger leaves and some tips, often described as “grade 8” leaves. The brick is dark brown to black, with a firm, well-compressed structure. Once brewed, the leaves retain a consistent, dark color, a sign of good fermentation. The aroma is earthy and woody, with hints of wet forest floor, mild smoke, and a touch of sweetness. There’s often a clean, mineral-like undertone, typical of higher-quality shu pu-erh. This is a Zao Xiang type with smooth, mellow, and rounded sips. Key tasting notes include earthy flavors with hints of chocolate, dried fruit (like dates or plums), and a subtle, nutty sweetness. There may also be a slight creaminess to the texture, creating a satisfying mouthfeel.
