Description
STYLE
This teapot shape was originally created by Hui Mengchen in the 17th century. Hui Mengchen crafted small, rounded designs, and his teapots served as inspiration for the shuiping hu style. Later on, this low, pear-shaped silhouette came to be known as the Mengchen teapot. With its soft lines, simple aesthetics, and compact proportions, it became very popular in Fujian and Guangdong for brewing Wuyi oolong and Dancong teas. Despite its small size, it also performs excellently with Tie Guan Yin and Taiwanese oolongs—in short, it brings out the best in any oolong tea.
