Description
STYLE
Yixing teapot for 4 person – sized for a group of friends or a family – with magnolia branch and flower decoration. This is a nice example of the naturalistic style when the artist makes the plant, flower or fruit decorations sculptural and lifelike. In this way he expresses his close relationship with nature. The magnolia flower, a precious and unique garden plant indigenous to China, has deeply resonated with people as a symbol of purity, elegance, and resilience. As it blooms in early spring, sometimes even before the leaves appear, also represents hope and renewal.
We have been in contact with the Xu family for a long time. Almost every family member lives and works near the Dragon Kiln in Dingshu village, Yixing city. Their teapots are in the old style and are completely handmade. The shapes often feature classic teapot forms with literary or pictorial connotations.
Qing Hui Ni teapots typically have a smooth, slightly grainy texture and a muted, earthy color that can range from light gray to darker green-gray tones, depending on the specific firing techniques and the presence of other minerals. The finished teapots are often highly prized for their unique, natural appearance and the way they develop a lustrous finish with use.
